CeBIT: 30in true-colour LCD on display

Samsung is showing off a 30in LCD monitor that uses an LED backlight at Cebit, and claims the new model marks a breakthrough for displaying detailed and realistic colours.

The company said that XL30 screen supports Adobe's RGB colour ranges and allows photos taken on a digital SLR camera to transmit emerald green and dark red colours in their natural form. As a result, the colour of photo prints will match those seen on the screen exactly, according to Samsung.

S. I. Lee, senior vice president of marketing at the Korean giant, said that until now flat panels with LED backlights have been too expensive to put on the market. He didn't however, reveal how much we'd be expected to pay for the XL30.
