Only custom

John Lloyd Williams writes: "In Microsoft Word on my laptop, if I attempt to set the paper size on the Page Setup dialog, Custom is the only option. My desktop has options for A4, A5 and so on as well. How can I add these?"

The fix
The paper size options displayed by Word and other applications are those offered by the currently selected or default printer. You need to install a printer driver on the laptop, even if the printer will never be accessible directly from the laptop and you intend to print your files only after copying them to another PC. After installing the printer, set it to be the default printer, shown by a tick beside it in Control Panel, Printers and Faxes.
