Worrying signs for operators hoping to push mobile TV and video. New research from M:Metrics suggests that former users of mobile TV and video in Europe already outnumber current users, with early adopters put off by price, reliability and quality issues.

All of this contrasts with our experiences with mobile phone TV. We recently took a look at Virgin Mobile’s Lobster phone, and found it fairly reliable and not too pricey.

However, it’s the concept in general that troubles us. Who wants to hunch over a tiny screen to watch a choice of programming that’s limited at best?

Things may improve if more broadcasters embrace the idea, or if people can be persuaded to carry larger mobile phones with bigger screens. Until then, the concept will be more of a novelty than a necessity to telly addicts.
