Seas0nPass Offers iOS 5 Jailbreak For Apple TV 2, Apple TV 3 Lucks Out

Great news if you want to jailbreak Apple TV 2 on iOS 5: Seas0nPass got an update! Sadly, it won't work with the newest box.

In the last couple of months, GeekTech's been inundated with new jailbreaks for Apple gadgets, new and old. One Apple product that stayed in the dark though was the Apple TV, especially since the iOS 5.0 update. Fortunately, FireCore was hard at work so it could finally announce a new Seas0nPass jailbreak for the Apple TV 2.

Latest version: Apple TV review (2012)

The tethered jailbreak means if you update the Apple TV's software to iOS 5.1, you will now be able to hack the little box to install a number of your favorite plugins without a hitch--so no need to stay on iOS 4.x anymore! Seas0nPass will allow you to purchase movies on iCloud, use Genius recommendations, or simply enjoy new National Geographic screensaver photos, to name a few new features built into the software.

Work is still ongoing with the hacking software, but you can still also use plugins such as Last.fm, Couch Surfer, RSS, weather, Nito TV and Media Player. Sadly, Plex, Overflow, Remote HD and XBMC are not supported just yet. Also, the shiny new Apple TV 3 will also not be supported by the update, so no jailbreaking your new toy for now!

Visit FireCore's website for download links and instructions to get the software up and running on your Apple TV.
