First there was the Droid, followed by Droid 2 and Droid 3--and now, behold the Droid 4. The latest iteration of Motorola's keyboard-equipped phone, announced today at CES, appears to be a considerable improvement over its predecessors.
Running on Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread), with a promise to be updated to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), the Droid 4 sports a 4-inch qHD scratch-resistant display and is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. Like the Droid 3, the Droid 4 is compatible with Verizon's blazing-fast LTE network and features a full QWERTY keyboard for easier typing.
Like the Droid RAZR, the Droid 4 can use Smart Actions to automate day-to-day tasks and activities. The Droid 4 also takes a page out of the Bionic's book and can be connected to an accompanying lapdock for access to Motorola's Webtop interface. The Webtop interface grants access to various windowed apps like Firefox for web browsing and QuickOffice for document creation.
The handset is due to release in the next few weeks, though we still have no word on pricing.
