Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Transformer 2 First Tablets to Get Ice Cream Sandwich OS

Asus's newest tablet and its predecessor will use the much-anticipated Android 4.0 operating system--code-named Ice Cream Sandwich.

Asus has released a sneak peek video of the Eee Pad Transformer 2, which, along with the original Eee Pad Transformer, is the first set of tablets confirmed to be getting Android 4.0, a.k.a., Ice Cream Sandwich.

The 22-second teaser video for the Eee Pad Transformer 2--posted on Asus's Facebook page--gives only the briefest glimpse of "the next transformation" of what may perhaps be the most popular Android tablet to date. The Transformer 2 definitely looks shinier and curvier than the original Asus Eee Pad Transformer, with a more attractive aluminum finish that is akin to that on the Asus Zenbook Ultrabooks.

Here's the short video.

The Eee Pad Transformer 2 will keep its iconic keyboard docking station so that it can transform into a laptop of sorts.

No word yet on pricing or other details for the Eee Pad Transformer 2, but owners of the original Transformer can expect their tablets to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update sometime starting in November when Google starts rolling out the update.
