HTC 'Unlockable Bootloaders' Ship in August

HTC Sensation, Sensation 4G, and EVO 3D to get unlockable bootloader support beginning in August.

HTC promised to end its locked bootloader policy a few months ago. In an announcement posted to its Facebook page, the company stated that it'll start rolling out unlockable bootloaders next month.

But HTC won't be blowing its bootloader unlocking load in one shot; instead it'll trickle them out. First up is the HTC Sensation in August, followed by the Sensation 4G on T-Mobile and the EVO 3D on Sprint.

But these are only firmware updates to support the unlocking tool that will finally be coming in September. We wish HTC could be a little quicker about it, but at least they promise to "continue rolling out the unlocking capability over time to other devices as part of maintenance releases and new shipments." So maybe all future HTC phones will be officially unlockable.

Are you stoked for unlocking your HTC phone? Leave a comment.
