Iran clamps down on MMS

Iranian state television has reported that Iran is to filter “immoral” messages sent using mobile phones.

Audio, video and picture messages will be filtered following the instruction of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution for Iran’s Telecommunications Ministry to buy special equipment to prevent misuse of Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).

Techniques or further details of how the MMS filter works, when it will be put in place or how immoral messages would be defined was not revealed.
