Another reason to hate mobile phones

Flexible friend for the chop

According to reports, the credit card is dead. Soon we'll make all our payments via our mobile phones.

The technology is already used for mobile ticketing, and could replace plastic credit and debit cards in our wallets when a standard for securing private data is established.

So expect to hear "I'm just paying my gas bill!" hollered at 200 decibels into your ear by the person sitting behind you on the bus, and see people have their phones taken from them at cashier tills.

How people will cope without the handy credit card remains to be seen. Cocaine users and lock breakers are going to need something a hell of a lot thinner than Apple's iPhone.
