Opinion: Four Reasons Ultrabooks Are Right for Business
Ultrabooks, a new laptop category introduced by Intel, are the computers of the future. They're less than .8 inches thick and lighter than 3 pounds, and anyone who has used one will tell you it’s hard to go back to a heavy, boxy, full-sized laptop.

Opinion: Samsung Special Edition Series 9 Laptop Packed
If run-of-the-mill laptops -- or even the shapely Samsung Series 9 introduced earlier this year -- just aren't dazzling enough for your tastes, Samsung's special edition luxury versions of its Series 9 ultraportables may be the solution for you.

Opinion: Lenovo Announces Stylish 12-inch MacBook Air Competitor
We've long waited for an affordable Windows alternative to the MacBook Air, and while Lenovo's new IdeaPad U300s looks great, it doesn't appear to be competing on price in the soon-to-be-crowded Ultrabook market. The hardware specs of this 13.3-inch laptop matches the MacBook Air fronts, is arguably thinner, and starts at a reasonable $1200 (about $100 less than the entry-level 13-inch Air). Though the price compares favorably to Apple's ultralight laptop, there are other manufacturers targeting sub-$1000 prices for some Ultrabook models this fall.

Opinion: Asus Plans to Unleash Five or More Ultrabooks in October
There will be no shortage of thin, light, and affordable laptops to choose from this fall--at least from Asus, according to reports of the company's plans to launch five to seven Ultrabooks in October. Even better, some of these models are set to be well within the sub-$1000 target price that consumers seem to want.

Opinion: Razer's Blade Proves Gaming Laptops Can Be Light, Sexy
Gaming hardware manufacturer Razer today launched what might be the most attractive gaming laptop to date. The 17.3-inch Razer Blade is just 0.88 inches thin and breaks the 7-pound weight barrier, but still boasts the high-end hardware specs gamers require.

Opinion: Razer Blade: Eyes-on With the 'Future' of PC Gaming
Razer wants to convince you that the future of PC gaming lies in a $2799 laptop. The first "true" gaming laptop, actually -- the pretenders to the throne that've come before might've been laptops capable of playing games, but they believe that the Razer Blade is the first to offer real portability, and great performance, without sacrifices. Earlier this week Razer CEO Ming-Liang Tan swung by PCWorld's offices and gave me a sneak peek at a prototype of their first real foray into the PC business. I had to muzzle my inner cynic (Razer Blade? Really?), but ultimately wasn't disappointed. I daresay impressed, even. I can't speak to whether or not this will actually spark a PC gaming renaissance (or if we're even in need of one, really), but Razer is certainly on the right track.

Opinion: PAX Prime: Meet 'Razer Blade,' Razer's New Gaming Laptop
You can't swing a mouse without hitting some high-end PC gaming vendor claiming it's built "the world's first true gaming laptop," and here comes Razer with another contender. The boutique PC gaming hardware designer's trotting out an all-aluminum chassis portable dubbed the "Razer Blade" at PAX Prime, which kicks off today in Seattle, Washington.

Opinion: Breakthrough Could Lower Costs of Ultrabooks
One of the main drivers behind the high price of ultrathin or ultraportable laptops is the steep cost of their solid state drives, but that might all be changing soon. SandForce, the company responsible for the processors in many of the drives, announced a breakthrough manufacturing process that should result in more affordable solid state drives - and the laptops that use them.

Opinion: Acer Taking on MacBook Air with Ultrabook Laptop
Acer plans to rival the MacBook Air this October with a new 13.3-inch Ultrabook laptop featuring Intel Core Sandy Bridge chips, longer battery life, and solid-state or hard disk storage options, according to the latest rumors. The supposed Acer Aspire 3951 is clearly a MacBook Air-inspired device including design choices such as silver aluminum casing, large trackpad, and chiclet keyboard. Images of the purported new laptop recently leaked online through the [28 July 2011

Opinion: Thanks to MeeGo, Asus Makes Good on $200 Laptop Promise
Keen observers may recall that Asus's debut of the Padfone back at Computex in May was accompanied by another, albeit less-trumpeted announcement. Specifically, the company promised a $199 netbook computer -- the MeeGo-based Eee PC X101 -- and this week that device took several steps closer to reality.

Opinion: HP Taking on MacBook Air, Asus with Ultrabook Laptop
The ultraportable laptop competition is heating up, as HP is reportedly expected to be the first to launch laptops based on Intel's new Ultrabook category: slim, affordable laptops that may give Windows users decent alternatives to Apple's MacBook Air. DigiTimes says HP will be launching at least two Ultrabook models -- ahead of the Asus UX21, which is slated for September and the laptop Intel used to announce the new category in May.

Opinion: Acer ships AC700 Chromebook
After almost a month's delay, the Acer AC700 Chromebook is now available for order -- and is shipping immediately. The late start, however, probably won't interfere too much with the AC700 catching up to the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook's early sales success. This Wi-Fi-only laptop is $80 cheaper than Samsung's while having similar features.
