SUPER iam8bit Art Show Re-Envisions 80s Video Games

SUPER iam8bit, an art show celebrating retro 80s video games, begins August 11 in Los Angeles's Echo Park.

Iam8bit, the four-time-going retro video game art show is returning for it's fifth year. And the show is only getting bigger with a larger space and more artists, so of course they had to call it SUPER iam8bit.

SUPER iam8bit is celebration of art inspired by 80s video games. Over 100 artists will re-imagine their 80s gaming nostalgic fantasies through all sorts of media--painting, sculpture, plush, and even some more interactive experimentation. The show will also feature a special tribute to Galaga's 30th anniversary with the world's largest "arcade cabinet.". The entire gallery is being designed as an 80's gaming wonderland, and Double Fine's artist Drew Skillman has made an interactive "retro-fied" Kinect Hack.

SUPER iam8bit opens from August 11 to September at the 4,500-square-foot gallery space in Echo Park, Los Angeles. And if you want to take any of the art home, be sure to get a copy of the SUPER iam8bit book, 160 primo pages of radical, game-inspired art by over 80 artists.
