Isostick Flash Drive Lets You Mount ISOs

Ever wished you could put your ISO images onto something a little more portable? A potential product from Elegant Innovation has your back. Although, it does need your backing too.

The Isostick lets you put ISO disk images on to the device and it behaves like an optical drive, so you can boot from it (say, booting from a Linux live CD). The Isostick is currently avaialble in 8, 16 and 32GB capacities, and the biggest bonus is that you can mount as many ISOs as you can store on the drive. It also has a hardware read-only option meant to keep malware from messing with your files.

Essentially, the Isostick could mean that you might never need a CD or DVD ever again, but they aren't cheap: An 8GB stick will set you back $100, and the biggest will cost $225--quite expensive for a USB flash drive.

Of course, that's provided the Isostick can actually go into production. The project is currently on Kickstarter, and presently there are 25 test successful models in existence. To find out more on the optical drive stick, watch the video by Elegant Innovation, And if it sounds like a good idea to you, why not send a few dollars their way?
