iPod users blamed for own deaths

Is Apple to blame for eveything these days?

Who is to blame for the rise in pedestrian deaths in the City of London? Drunk drivers? Motorists using their mobile phones? Bendy buses? Ken Livingstone?

No, it’s all the fault of Apple’s iPod and its stupid users, according to the City of London Corporation’s Road safety team leader Matthew Collins.

Collins says: "Commuters pouring out of the stations, some still half asleep, must remember to check for traffic. Many are listening to MP3 players or chatting on their phones unaware of approaching traffic."

The number of pedestrians killed or seriously injured in the City more than doubled from 12 to 26 between 2005 and 2006. The figures for "slight" injuries also went up, from 80 to 86.
