Are you a sophisticated gentleman that gets invited to all the best rave parties and need an appropriate fashion accessory? Well, put on your monocle and look no further, because you're ideal solution would be the LED Top Hat.
The colorful top hat by YouTube user "Safarir" features 400 LEDs that light up in unison and let the hat display bright animations and patterns. Safarir attached the LEDs to a simple top hat with Adafruit's RGB LED Flexi Strips, and made it so you can code each LED individually--exactly what you need to create the specific designs that float around this hat.
After some coding, Safarir had the hat performing fluid transformations such as pixel hearts, color throbs, stripes, spots, and even words. Sadly, Safarir doesn't get into much detail on the creation process, or mention whether the patterns change with the music, but we do know that Safrir wrote some custom software--dubbed HatEditor--to determine colors and patterns.
Safarir uploaded plenty of great videos to demonstrate a modern take on a classy hat for your amusement. You won't find Safarir's creation in stores anytime soon, so for now, you'll just have to admire Safarir's work.
