GeekBytes: The Beer-Dispensing Lego Machine (And Other Things We Didn't Cover)

What's better than an automated beer dispenser made from Lego? How about a robotic glove for use in space?

Robots, Lego, and space--that's pretty much the GeekTech trifecta, and we touch on all three in this edition of GeekBytes. And Nyan Cat, too. Enough with the formalities; let's get our geek on.

The Lego Beer Dispenser [The NXT Step]

What can you do with Lego Mindstorms? What can't you do with Lego Mindstorms? This latest Lego Mindstorms project not only serves up two kinds of beer, but it can also chill it, too. Impressive. The NXT Step has the video. Remember: Drink--and build--responsibly. [via Gizmodo]

Microsoft Universal Translator Converts Your Voice Into Another Language [Microsoft Research]

Microsoft has some impressive stuff in its research lab, ranging from robot programming tools to new touchscreen tech, but this one is straight from science fiction. GM and NASA Develop Robotic Gloves [GM]

The cyborg melding of humans and machines inches ever closer with the introduction of these robotic gloves. But these gloves aren't designed to give you super-human strength; jointly developed by NASA and General Motors, these gloves are instead designed to make it easier for workers to grip tools for long periods of time. GM and NASA say these glove could soon find use on the assembly line...or in space. [via The Verge]

Cat Watches Cat Watching Cat Watching Cat Watching Nyan Cat [YouTube]
