Verizon Launches Xbox 360 Streaming TV Service Offer for FiOS Customers

The service isn't live yet...but the offer is.

Verizon FiOS customers can now get live HD TV streaming on their Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming consoles.

It's been almost two months since Comcast and Verizon announced they were going to begin streaming HD TV programming to Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles, and now we're inching a little closer to actually seeing it happen. The service itself is still not available for download (and won't be until next month), but the offer signup form for new FiOS customers is live.

To tempt new users, Verizon is offering a special $89.99 Triple Play package (TV, 35/35 Mbps Internet, and phone) plus a free 12-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold and the "Xbox Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" game. This special offer is good until January 21, 2012.

Alas, there's no special deal for current FiOS subscribers, who will have to call Verizon to add Xbox streaming to their accounts. Note that you'll need both an Xbox Live Gold subscription and FiOS TV and Internet service for streaming to work.

The streaming service will bring 26 channels (depending on your TV package) to your Xbox 360, including HBO, CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon, Spike, Comedy Central, and the Food Network.

One of the coolest aspects of TV on your Xbox is the ability to control your television by waving your hands or speaking at the motion-sensing Kinect for your Xbox.

If you're an Xbox 360 owner who's been trying to cut the cable/telco cord, Verizon may have just made it a little harder to do.
