This Lego Star Destroyer Is Made of 43,280 Bricks

Iomedes builds an 8-foot replica Venator Class Star Destroyer using 43,280 Lego pieces.

Whether you love or hate (Jar-Jar) the Star Wars prequel trilogy, you have to admit it had some of the coolest ships and star fighters. The only way they could be cooler is if you made them out of Lego like this 8-foot Venator Class Star Destroyer.

This mega 1:465-scale-replica was built by 'iomedes' using 43,280 Lego pieces, and the whole thing weighs 180-pounds. The detail is completely spot on, too, from the four starboard and port turbo lasers, all the sub-light engines, and underbelly hanger bays.

The model is a copy of the one built by Erik Varszegi, model designer at the Shows & Events Department of the Lego Company, back in 2005 as a promotion for Episode III. Unlike Varzegi's build, iomedes's model does not use glue, screws, or a steel frame and is completely held together by the Lego nubs alone.

And now for the obligatory walk-around reel.

B-Wings, Tie Hunters, or the Outrider? What's your favorite Star Wars Craft?
