PC Advisor Awards 2010

PC Advisor AwardsHundreds of products pass through PC Advisor's Test Centre each year. Whether you're looking for a new PC or laptop, a wireless router, a monitor, graphics card or digital camera, our rigorous tests separate the best buys from the also-rans. To help you with your buying decision, we hand out Recommended and Gold awards to the hardware and software that stands out from the crowd. But what we've never done before is pick out the one product that leads the rest in its category over the course of a year - until now.

Today we announce the nominations for our first ever annual awards. The PC Advisor editorial awards were voted for by PC Advisor's editors and expert contributors. All nominated hardware and software products had to have come into the PC Advisor Test Centre during 2009, although the best product at the end of the year won't necessarily be the winner in its category; on occasions the products that made the biggest impact during 2009 may be deemed more worth of winning than incremental improvements released towards the end of the 12-month period.

You can see the nominations in our 15 hardware categories and 6 software categories now, and the winners will be announced on January 7 2010.

But while our team of experts is perfectly placed to highlight the products most deserving of praise over the past year, the PC Advisor Awards 2010 isn't only about honouring manufacturing excellence. Our reader awards, which were voted for by nearly 5,000 print and online readers, focus on your buying experiences and the after-sales service you've received. You provided feedback on the leading desktop PC and laptop brands, as well as the UK's top online retailers, amongst other things. We're also naming a gadget of the year - nominations were recommended by survey respondents and voted for via an online poll. Broadband ISP Of The Year (2009) was voted for by over 6,500 PC Advisor readers earlier this year.

See the full list of nominations here, and check back on 7th January to find out the winners.
