Firewire to thrash USB flash drives

OCZ is showing off what it says is the world’s first Firewire flash drive at Computex. The sample is bulkier than the increasingly petite USB equivalents but is not yet finished, according to OZC.

With so many USB ports available on modern PCs (and few Firewire ports), you might wonder what the point of this breakthrough is. Well, OCZ says its Firewire flash drive is capable of ‘inconceivably’ high speed-transfer rates compared with USB flash drives, and that could make it suitable for certain power users.

OCZ’s Firewire flash drive is due to become available during Q3.
