Users of Windows XP Service Pack 2 on a laptop were finding batteries were draining more quickly than usual when they plugged in a USB device. There is now a patch, available here.

Meeanwhile, the hourglass has run out for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition and Windows Me (Millennium Edition). Microsoft stopped issuing security patches for them in July.

However, you can still grab the latest patches here and, if you have a particular issue with an aspect of your OS (operating system), you can get advice for Windows 98 here and Me here.
