Brit R&B star Estelle will be cursing her record label Warner for its anti-Apple stance.
Deciding that she was better off selling physical CDs than individual digital download tracks, Warner yanked her off the US iTunes music store.
This policy had worked for Kid Rock, and acts such as AC/DC and The Beatles have outperformed iTunes bands such as The Rolling Stones.
However, the week after she was removed from iTunes, Estelle has plummeted down the US charts into obscurity.
Her smash hit ‘American Boy’ featuring Kanye West went from number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 to number 37. Her album ‘Shine’ also plunged - falling over 100 places in the US album chart to 159.
Worse still, an opportunistic band called Studio All-Stars released a cover version on iTunes US, and appears at number 43 on the download chart.
With Estelle’s songs still on the UK iTunes a cynic might suggest that her US record label is experimenting with a limey musician before removing home-grown talent from the country’s number-one music retailer…

Peter Reime said: Haha I personally have no problem paying about 5 for an album download I like or 7 for one of them old fashioned shiny disc things Other than that the record companies will just have to accept the fact that filesharing is basically like radio - people listen to it for free and if they like it they go and buy it
