Samsung's musical blaster

Kudos to Samsung for trying something new on the MP3 player front. The K5 digital audio player features a small slide-out speaker so you have the choice of plugging in earbuds or blasting tunes out loud for the whole subway car to hear.

The player, which features either 2 or 4GB of flash memory, also comes with other cool-on-paper perks, such as a 1.7in OLED screen for looking at JPEGs, an alarm clock so you don't oversleep your flight, and a 30-hour battery when plugged into earbuds (6 hours when running the speakers).

The player supports subscription services like Napster, Rhapsody, Yahoo, and Urge. It's due out this month and will initially be available in black, but if you can wait, a pink version is coming later in the year.
