A man, apparently dressed in a white ninja suit, drove a stolen car into the front of an Apple Store in North Carolina in the wee small hours of Friday morning in an apparent robbery attempt.

However, the raid on the store in Greensboro was ultimately unsuccessful, reports Fox8.

The store will be closed today after the alleged robbery attempt was reported to police at 0443 local time. Police said that the man driving the stolen vehicle fled empty-handed. The dark blue or grey Honda was reported stolen by its owner at 0600 local time.

A witness, an anonymous security guard, reported that the man was dressed in a white ninja suit.

Twitter member @Natallini snapped a picture of the vehicle sticking out of the front of the store (pictured).

North Carolina has been in the news already this week, as satellite images of Apple's new data centre in Maiden - a mere 100 miles down the road - have finall shown up on Google Maps.
