Lockheed Martin to provide government cloud services support

Dell joins big name suppliers on G-Cloud 2 list

The Cabinet Office has chosen Lockheed Martin to provide G-Cloud 2 IT support to government departments.

The framework agreement includes infrastructure, software and specialist cloud capabilities. The G-Cloud 2 contract succeeds a previous G-Cloud 1 programme and will allow Lockheed Martin UK to provide a wider range of services.

Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions will now offer support such as computing and storage, email and collaboration, cloud strategy and integration, cloud security, green IT and energy optimisation, cloud brokering, virtualisation consulting, assessments for Oracle virtualisation and virtual desktop as a service assessments.

G-Cloud 2 was launched this spring and is expected to generate around £100 million in sales over the next 12 months, with a large chunk expected to go to SME suppliers.

Other suppliers to announce they are providing services through G-Cloud 2 this week include Dell and adept4. Adept4 is offering its managed secure email service, which is delivered using the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model and which offers an extra layer of security via data labelling and content checking.

Dell has announced it has signed up to G-Cloud 2 after being approved to supply various cloud-based infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), software-as-a-service, and specialist cloud consulting offerings across various product suites.
