NBN hires John McInerney of HP for CIO role

NBN Co. has named John McInerney Chief Information Officer who will oversee internal technology systems at the company, an NBN spokesperson has confirmed.

McInerney will start on 3 December. He was previously with Hewlett Packard where he was vice president of Infrastructure Technology. Prior to that, he was group managing director, CIO for Telstra. He has held a number of senior management roles in the telco and technology sectors over the past 15 years.

McInerney has replaced Claire Rawlins, who resigned in August from the position following a three-year tenure.

"We are delighted to welcome an executive of John's calibre and experience to this important role within the company, a Teslatra spokesperson said. "Our IT and systems are core to the NBN and to the operation and delivery of a wholesale network designed to serve the people of Australia for decades to come."

McInerney could not immediately be reached for comment.
