Apple has suffered another legal defeat, this time facing a Dutch court's ruling that Samsung did not violate its patents.
After losing its appeal against a UK ruling that Samsung did not violate its iPad and iPhone patents (on the basis that Samsung products aren't as cool, bizarrely enough), Apple has suffered another legal defeat this week. A court in the Hague has ruled against the Calfifornia company, judging that Samsung does not infringe an Apple patent related to multitouch interfaces.
Apple had pursued legal action in protest at the use of 'pinch to zoom' gestures in the interfaces of Samsung smartphones and tablets.
Samsung released a statement following the announcement. "We welcome today's ruling, which affirms our position that our products do not infringe Apple's intellectual property," the company stated.
"For decades, we have heavily invested in pioneering the development of technological and design innovations in the mobile industry, which have been constantly reflected in our products. We will continue to further develop and introduce products that enhance the lives of Dutch consumers."
Apple declined to offer a comment on this latest defeat.
