Apple co-founder Ronald Wayne to open UK Apple expo

Macworld subscribers can get free admission to the event

Apple's third founder, Ronald G Wayne, will be officially opening Appule, the UK Apple expo, it has been announced.

Wayne will be embarking on a rare visit to the UK to open the event, which will take place in London in October and will be the first Mac show to run in London since 2008. More than 5,000 people have already requested tickets for the event.

Wayne, who co-founded Apple in 1976 with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, is set to attend the Appule Expo both days, and will be arriving five days before the event begins to attend interviews. Appule attendees will also be able to get their hands on a signed copy of Wayne's book "Adventures of an Apple Founder".

Wayne famously sold his ten per cent share in Apple within ten days of founding the company for $800. It has been calculated that if he had kept his share of Apple, it would be worth more than $35 billion today.

The Appule Pro User Live Expo will take place at The Barbican in London on 11 and 12 October this year. Macworld subscribers can apply for free admission to the event.

Microsoft is said to be planning to showcase its Office for Mac products at the show, which may suggest that a Mountain Lion enhanced update to the Office suite is in the pipeline.

Apple, however, will not be attending. The company claims that it gains more access to consumers through its Apple Stores that it ever did through trade shows.
