Due to a reporting error, the sixth paragraph of the story, "EFF asks vendors to stop opposing jailbreaking," which posted to the wire Tuesday, gave an incorrect day for the release of an EFF statement. Because the story also refers to a blog posting from the EFF that could lead to confusion about the timing, the sixth paragraph has been changed to refer to "last week" and now reads:

However, the EFF wants this exemption expanded to cover other devices as well. "Technology has evolved over the last three years, and so it's important to expand these exemptions to cover the real-world uses of smartphones, tablets, video game consoles, DVDs, and video downloads," the organization said in a statement last week.
