Apple may be forced to reveal UK iPad 2 sales figures

Dispute with Samsung over Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 blockage in Australia could hang on it

Apple's battle with Samsung over sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia could hang on Apple's willingness to release iPad 2 sales figures for the UK and US.

Apple doesn't traditionally give sales figures for individual territories, but Bloomberg reports that the judge in the Apple vs Samsung case in Australia has said that the data would improve Apple's chances of blocking sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the country.

Justice Annabelle Bennett of the Sydney Federal Court said: "Unless Apple puts on evidence showing the impact in the US or UK, I can't draw any positive assumptions," according to the report.

Apple claims Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringes 10 patents relating to the iPad and also believes Samsung has been misleading consumers by insinuating the Galaxy Tab 10.1 offers the same performance as the iPad 2.

Apple has also taken Samsung on in European courts in the dispute over the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and legal action also led Samsung to remove the Galaxy Tab 7.7 from the company's stand at the IFA exhibition in Berlin earlier this month.
