Adobe shuts down for a week

Cost-cutting move for Photoshop developer

Adobe has shut its North American operations for a week as part of a cost-cutting effort, and plans to repeat the week-long break at least once more during 2009.

The Photoshop developer took a similar break in April when executives asked staff to use paid holiday time during the closures.

Adobe's sales have declined for the last two quarters, although it still reported $126.1 million in profit on $704.7 million in revenue for the quarter that ended 29 May.
