Toshiba sues recordable DVD manufacturers

Lawsuit targets Imation and other suppliers

Toshiba has accused Imation and a number of other firms that manufacture and distribute recordable DVDs of infringing its copyright.

In the lawsuit it filed in a US Court, Toshiba claims Imation and the other companies named in the complaint do not have licence agreements covering recordable DVD media with Toshiba or the DVD6C Licensing Group (DVD6C), and are selling the DVD media in the US without permission.

As a result the electronics giant is seeking damages and also asking the court to ban the sale of recordable DVDs by the named companies.
