Preparation for the opening of Cebit was well underway on Sunday, a couple of days before the doors officially open.
The fair, Europe's largest IT event, will kick-off with signs of recession evident. The number of exhibitors this year will be around 4,300, the lowest in a decade as companies slash marketing expenditures.
The number represents a 26 percent drop from last year and is a little over half the 8,000 companies that turned up during the show's peak in 2001.
