Surface Pro still not on sale in the UK
Microsoft has sold out of its new Surface Pro Windows 8 tablet in the US.
The Windows 8 maker has sold out of its Surface Pro tablet since going on sale in the US on 9 February. Both the 64GB and 128GB models went out of stock although the smaller capacity is now back in stock. See also: Microsoft Surface Pro vs Apple iPad comparison review.
Panos Panay, general manager for Microsoft Surface, said: "We're working with our retail partners who are currently out of stock of the 128GB Surface Pro to replenish supplies as quickly as possible. Our priority is to ensure that every customer gets their new Surface Pro as soon as possible."
The Surface Pro costs $899 and $999 for the 64GB and 128GB models respectively. Each comes pre-installed with the full version of Windows 8. Although the Surface Pro is out of stock on Microsoft’s online store is remains available at retailers including Staples and Best Buy.
The Surface Pro comes with an Intel Ivy Bridge processor, Full HD display and a stylus pen. See also: Microsoft Surface Pro price in the UK.
Microsoft is launching the Surface RT in 13 more countries on 14 February including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland and Ireland.
However, there's still no official launch date for the Surface Pro in the UK. Microsoft's online store has merely changed from saying "coming soon" to "coming early in 2013".
Along with the lack of a launch date, there has been no announcement on how much it will cost. Going by the US prices we predict a UK price of between £699 and £799 for the 64GB model.
