128GB iPad will be Apple's 'Ultimate' model
The Californian iPhone maker is preparing to release a new model of its iPad tablet, according to 9to5Mac. The new model is tipped to be an addition to the current line-up with a larger 128GB storage capacity. See also: Apple confirms 128GB iPad 4 will launch on 5 February.
The new SKU will be a fourth-generation iPad, aka iPad with Retina display but with double the storage of the current top model. There is no pricing available at the moment which makes it hard to place the new model.

Like the existing iPad range, the new model will come in black or white, Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + Cellular and keep the same design. All signs point to a 128GB model including code found by developers in iOS 6.1 and references in iTunes 11.
"While it is certainly plausible that this new iPad model is the 128GB iPad, we are currently not confident enough to outright claim that, but it seems likely based on the evidence." said 9to5Mac.
The leaked details from a US retailer show four models of the new iPad, 'Ultimate' suggesting the higher capacity storage following 'Good', 'Better' and 'Best'. P101 and P103 refer to Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + Cellular models while A and B correspond to black and white colour options.
The site points out that the new model could just be for government, retailers or other internal uses rather than for consumers to purchase. Despite many rumours, 9to5Mac says there's no word on any forthcoming iPad mini launches.
