Samsung targets yet more Apple iPads and iPods in latest patent battle
Samsung has added Apple's iPad mini, iPad 4 and iPod touch to a list of devices it claims infringe its patents.
Samsung has asked a Californian court to add Apple's latest devices to a patent case which already targets the previous iPod touch, iPad and more recently, the iPhone 5. The latest products to be added into the fray include the fifth-generation iPod touch, iPad mini and iPad 4.
The document states that: "Good cause exists to amend Samsung’s contentions because Apple's new products were not yet available when Samsung submitted its original contentions on June 15, 2012."
Samsung claims the list of Apple's devices infringe a patent relating to the 'built-in speaker and an external audio output port'.
If Samsung is granted the leave to add the list of iDevices, the court case won't begin until next year. It's just the latest snippet in a long lasting battle between the smartphone and tablet makers which never seems to end.
This week rumours of the Galaxy S4 smartphone have surfaced suggesting it will have a full HD 5in screen, a quad-core A15 processor and a 13Mp camera.
