Microsoft Surface TV ad appears online

Microsoft orders up to five million Surface tablets

Microsoft has posted the first television advert for its upcoming Windows 8 Surface tablet.

The firm has posted the video called 'The Surface Movement' ahead of the Windows 8 and Surface launch on 26 October. The advert focuses on the tablet's magnetic keyboard cover and features more dancing than it does software.

Despite the fact that the Surface, in its Windows 8 RT model, will launch in 10 days' time, Microsoft hasn't announced any pricing. The Surface Pro will launch early in 2013.

It seems that Microsoft has high expectations for the Surface. The firm has ordered between three and five million units to be made, according to The Wall Street Journal. This is similar to the Amazon Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 but doesn’t match the 10 million iPad Minis which Apple has supposedly ordered.

The Surface, along with a raft other Windows 8 tablets such as the Sony Vaio Duo 11 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga will take on the iPad and countless Android tablets.
