Google to make 10in Nexus tablet with Samsung

Nexus 10 will have Retina iPad topping resolution

Google is reportedly partnering with Samsung to make a 10in version of the Nexus 7 tablet.

After the success of the Nexus 7 which was made by Asus, Google is getting Samsung to make a 10in model. Richard Shim, an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch, has confirmed the news to CNET.

"It's going to be a high-end device," said Shim. "They'll [Google] partner with Samsung and cobrand it with Samsung,"

The tablet will supposedly have a display with a pixel density higher than Apple's new iPad. What could be called the Nexus 10 will use a resolution of 2560 x 1600. This means a pixel density of 299ppi outdoing the 264ppi of the 2048 x 1536 Retina quality iPad. See also: is the Nexus 7 a good deal?

Collaborating with Samsung on the tablet makes a certain amount of sense since Samsung was behind the Galaxy Nexus smartphone which introduced Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Shim also confirmed that Google will make a cheaper $99 version of the Nexus 7 in December. Meanwhile Apple is expected to announced an iPad Mini next week.
