Barnes & Noble to release Nook eReaders in UK

Nook eReaders and Store hitting the UK mid-October

Barnes & Noble has announced that it is bringing its Nook eReaders to the UK in October.

The firm will launch its range of Nook eReader in the UK in mid-October with selected retailers. The devices will rival the likes of Amazon's Kindle range and Sony's eReaders.

"We are proud to be able to offer our top-rated line of Nook reading devices and our award-winning digital bookstore to the discerning and highly educated consumers in the UK," said William J. Lynch, CEO of Barnes & Noble.

"We’re confident our award-winning technology, combined with our expansive content – including books, children’s books, magazines, apps, movies and more – will bring UK customers the option they’ve been waiting for."

The first products to launch in the UK will be the Nook Simple Touch plus the version with GlowLight, said Barnes & Noble.

Alongside the eReaders will be the launch of the Nook Store in the UK. This will offer digital content totalling more than 2.5 million titles books, newspapers, magazines, comics and apps.
