Asus brings Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to Transformer Pad 300

Software update hits the US including Asus features

Asus has announced that it is rolling out for its Transformer Pad 300 tablet updating it to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The firm announced the news on its main Facebook page stating the upgrade rollout would begin in North America. The Transformer Pad 300, aka TF300, is among the first tablet to get updated to Google's latest operating system. See also: Group test: what's the best Android tablet?

Asus Transformer Pad 300 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update

Asus said: "We are pleased to announce that we will be rolling out a major software update for the Asus Transformer Pad TF300, which will bring Android 4.1, Jelly Bean to the device for the first time in North America."

On top of the new OS, Asus has added a few of its own software features. These include new power saving options, global file search and 'several improvements' to the pre-installed apps.

Users of Asus' other tablets, like the Transformer Prime, will have to be patient. Asus said it will announce Jelly Bean update plans in the near future.
