Samsung to launch Galaxy Tab 11.6 in February?

Report claims device will be launched at Mobile World Congress

Samsung is thought to be launching an 11.6in version of its tablet PC, the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

According to BGR, which cites a "trusted source", the tablet PC will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress, which take place in Barcelona in February next year, and will run Google Android, like the other devices in the Galaxy Tab range. However, the Galaxy Tab 11.6 will be the first to benefit from be version 4.0, of the operating system, which is also known as Ice Cream Sandwich.

The website also said that despite having an 11.6in display with a resolution of 2560x1600 and a 16:10 aspect ratio, the device will be "barely larger" than the current Galaxy Tab 10.1 thanks to a thinner bezel.

The Galaxy Tab 11.6 will also feature a dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU clocked at 2GHz, along Android Beam, a function that allows two devices that are enabled with Near Field Communications (NFC) technology to share content by simply tapping them together, and a wireless docking mode that will ensure content stored on the tablet PC can be displayed on a TD screen.

The news comes as Samsung has been awarded the right to sell its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia following a legal battle with Apple that has been running since August.

At the beginning of August, Apple approached Australian courts in a bid to obtain an injunction that would prevent Samsung from selling the device in the country. Apple claimed the tablet PC infringed 13 patents relating to the iPad, three of which related to the touchscreen technology including one which covered "selective rejection" technology ensuring accidental touches to the iPad don't result in programs being launched.
