Alan Partridge on Kindle: Better than iPad

Other tablets dangerously distracting

Infamous British broadcaster Alan Partridge has praised the Amazon Kindle as the best mobile device for book reading, damning the Apple iPad and its copyists as dangerously distracting.

In an interview promoting his soon-to-be-released autobiography Partridge is asked what he thinks of eBooks, He explains why the Kindle is much better for book readers than rival tablets such as the iPad and various Google Android tablets.

“I am a massive fan of the Amazon Kindle, and I’ve always said the genius of the Kindle is that – unlike rival tablet devices I could mention – it doesn’t have an Internet browser which means you can enjoy a good book free from the nagging distraction of hardcore online pornography. And that’s a great boon for me.

“When I am reading my Kindle be it in the bed or a soapy bath, or in a tent in the Cotswolds I know I can immerse myself completely in, say, ‘The House of The Spirits’ by Isabel Allende safe in the knowledge that I simply cannot access movies of an explicit sexual nature however tempting or necessary."

The autobiography ‘I, Partridge: We Need To Talk About Alan’ is supposedly so funny that the author claims Richard Dawkins laughed so much that he started to believe in God.

A local of Norfolk Alan Partridge is the star of several radio and TV series (‘The Day Today’, ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’, ‘Anglian Lives’), although his fame and popularity have waned in recent years.

He has already written a fictional autobiography, called ‘Bouncing Back’.

‘I, Partridge: We Need To Talk About Alan’ is published by Harper Collins on September 29.
