Apple iPad 2 on sale in the UK today

Apple now accepting online orders

The wait is over, as thousands of UK punters wanting to buy Apple's iPad 2 make their way to the online Apple Store to place their order.

Those who can't wait for delivery, though, are gearing themselves up for 5pm, when the device will go on sale in Apple Stores and other retail outlets.

According to the Telegraph, one eager customer, Jewels Lewis, arrived outside the Apple Store in London's Regent Street 33 hours before the onsale time.

If you want to buy a Wi-Fi only version of the iPad 2 it'll cost you £399 inc VAT for the 16GB model, £479 inc VAT for the 32GB model and £559 inc VAT for the 64GB model.

The iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G will be available for a suggested retail price of £499 inc VAT for the 16GB model, £579 inc VAT for the 32GB model and £659 inc VAT for the 64GB model.

Accessories such as the Smart Cover will also be on sale, costing £35 for the polyurethane versions (grey, blue, gree, orange or pink) or £59 for leather (tan, black, navy, cream or red).

However, if you're prepared to wait until 5pm, you can get your hands on a 16GB 3G + Wi-Fi iPad 2 for just £199 from T-Mobile - though you'll have to sign up to a two-year £25 per month contract and be an existing T-Mobile customer.

Should you get an iPad 2 3G... or not 3G

Non-T-Mobile customers can get an iPad 2 for £229, along with a two-year, £27-per-month contract. Orange and Three will also be offering the iPad 2, but they haven't released any pricing information at the time of writing. The offer is available through T-Mobile's website and over the telephone.
