The number of consumers that plan to buy a netbook has dropped, says ChangeWave.
The research company revealed that during October, just 14 percent of PC users said they planned to buy a netbook in the next 90 days, that's ten percent less than figures for June 2009.
ChangeWave blamed the rise in popularity of the tablet PC for the decline in demand for netbooks. According to ChangeWave's figures, 26 percent of consumer plan on purchasing a tablet PC in the future. Of these, 80 percent say they'll purchase an iPad.
Furthermore, of those that currently own an Apple iPad, 72 percent claim they're 'very satisfied' with their device while nearly a quarter (23 percent) are 'somewhat satisfied'.
Just under one in ten (eight percent) said they'll opt for Research In Motion's yet-to-be-released PlayBook tablet, while three percent will chose the Samsung Galaxy Tab, which was released this week, and two percent claim they'll purchase the HP Slate.
ChangeWave also said the number of PC users planning to buy a desktop system has increased to six percent since August, while the number looking to buy a laptop has remained at eight percent.
