Autodesk to make 3ds Max and Maya upgrades more expensive

According to an email from UK reseller bluegfx, Autodesk is to increase its overall upgrade prices for Maya and 3ds Max from January 21 - as well as upping the cost of renewing 3ds Max subscriptions.

Bluegfx notes that currently, Maya and 3ds Max users pay 50% of the full price to upgrade from versions up to three back (so from Maya 2010 or 3ds Max 2010 currently). Owners of older versions would pay 70% of the full price. From Jan 21, everyone will have to pay 70% - except anyone with software older than six versions ago, who will have to pay full price. So instead of paying £1,450 to upgrade Maya or 3ds Max 2010, 2011 or 2012 to the current 2013 version, you'll have to £2,030.

The company says that annual renewal costs for 3ds Max is going up from £360 to £495 on March 25, which it says is bringing it more line with pricing in other countries around the world.Bluegfx is offering to let you renew for up to three years at £360 if you sign up before that date.
