Coventry council deploys new ERP system

New system will provide users with standardised accounting information

Coventry City Council is aiming to streamline its back office processes with the help of a new ERP financials system.

Coventry is using the Agresso Local Government ERP Platform from UNIT 4 to provide 400 users, including service managers and budget holders, with timely and standardised accounting information to more easily control and view finances.

"When we looked at the cost of an upgrade of our existing system we decided it would be in our best interests to consider other ERP solutions in the market," said Barry Hastie, assistant director for financial management at Coventry City Council.

The new system will support the council's "fundamental service review of finance", said Hastie, which, as part of its "transformation agenda", aims to improve the services provided to taxpayers and at the same time make the council as efficient as possible.

"Self-service and best-practice processes will foster a more commercial culture in the council whereby finance becomes a business partner rather than an administrator, this is critical to the transformation," said Hastie.

Last year Coventry City Council deployed a new cash-saving security platform to protect the digital identities of its remote workers. Coventry selected CRYPTOCard's CRYPTO-MAS managed service to protect access to its servers and networks.
