Mike Judge to write dang-old Silicon Valley comedy for HBO, man

Mike Judge, the creator of TV shows like "Beavis and Butt-head" and "King of the Hill," as well as movies like "Office Space" and "Idiocracy," is getting ready to take on Silicon Valley in an upcoming HBO comedy series.

MORE OFFBEAT: The year in madly cool robots

According to initial reports from Deadline.com, the show will be titled, appropriately enough, "Silicon Valley," and will see Judge reunited with "King of the Hill" producers John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.

The project -- which will be live-action, not animated -- is apparently still very much in its embryonic stages, with pilot shooting not set to begin until next year. Not much is known about potential stars, nor when the show might first air.

Judge, of course, has some history with satire focused on the tech world -- the 1999 cult classic "Office Space" centered on the lives of three disgruntled programmers working at a pre-bubble software company.

As Gizmodo notes, the Valley's presence on the small screen is already growing, thanks to the Bravo reality show "Start-Ups: Silicon Valley." (The folks at Gizmodo don't seem too impressed with it, however.)

Reaction seems to be generally positive, based on the minor buzz the news has created online. Says one Redditor: "as both a resident of Silicon Valley and a huge Mike Judge fan, I'm psyched. Too bad Greg Daniels isn't involved too, I love that guy," while a Gizmodo commenter says simply: "shut up and take my money."
