ThoughtWeb names Samuel as CEO

Australian Big Data software vendor, ThoughtWeb, has appointed Vinay Samuel as its CEO.

The company said, in a statement, that the new appointment was made to lead global growth. Samuel said the company's experience in the government, telecommunications, retail, mining and banking industries has been driving significant market take-up.

ThoughtWeb founder and chief technology officer, Chris Murray, claimed the analytics industry will be changed through the democratisation of data analytics.

"This is what the ThoughtWeb Enterprise Analytics Studio is all about. We enable the user to build deep capability utilising existing systems and new data streams available inside and external to organisations," he said.

Samuel has had extensive start-up experience from several recent US software ventures such as Netezza, Greenplum and Vertica.

He intends to put his experience in business management, data warehousing, marketing and Big Data in his new role.

"The challenge our customers face involves the volume, variety, velocity and complexity of data generated internally and on the Web. ThoughtWeb has patented technology and approaches that address the Big Data issue," Samuel said.

He will be based in the company's Melbourne office.
