Apple's Maps app images leaked, suggest new silver look for iOS 6

The official WWDC 2012 app adds evidence to speculation about a new colour scheme

Boy Genius Reports has revealed photographs of what it claims are Apple's new 3D mapping app, which will reportedly launch with iOS 6. The app, along with the newly released WWDC app, suggests a new silver colour scheme may be coming to iOS.

Earlier this month, we reported that Apple could be scrapping the Google Maps app from its iOS devices, in favour of its own mapping software.

The new Maps app will reportedly feature a 3D mode from C3 Technologies, which Apple acquired last year.

BGR has posted a new gallery of images from a 'trusted source', showing parts of the new Maps app.

The report suggests that the app will include a 'refreshed' user interface with a new navigation bar, which will be silver rather than blue. This could indicate that Apple will change the overall colour scheme from blue to silver for all of its apps in the next version of its mobile operating system.

Apple's Maps app could also have a floating locate me button in the bottom left corner, and a peel back corner to reveal the aforementioned 3D mode.

BGR says that Apple is currently finalising the app, and it is being tested in build 10A3XX of iOS 6.

Apple's newly released WWDC app also shows a new silver colour scheme, adding further evidence to the possible change.

Cult of Mac reports that the WWDC 2012 app has silver bars on both the top and bottom, as apposed to last year's blue top and black bottom, which was in keeping with the traditional colouring of iOS.

It is expected that Apple could launch iOS 6 at WWDC, which starts on 11 June.
