London Fire Brigade hit by IT failure

It has been revealed that London Fire Brigade’s systems went down last Thursday evening

London Fire Brigade (LFB) has confirmed that it experienced a failure in its IT systems last week, but has denied that this this had an impact on mobilising units across the capital.

Computerworld UK can reveal that LFB started experiencing problems last Thursday evening, with disruption continuing through to Friday morning.

"LFB experienced some problems with its IT and there was an impact on some of our administrative functions. However, our mobilising systems were not affected," said a spokesperson for the brigade.

The spokesperson would not provide details of what caused the problem.

In March, it was revealed that LFB would be outsourcing its 999 emergency control service to Capita, which aims to realise £5 million worth of savings over the 10-year contract.
