Opera has made the final version of its desktop browser, Opera 11.60, available to web users.
Opera 11.60, which was released in Beta on November 10, allows users to add websites to their Speed Dials (Opera's version of a Favourites menu) by simply clicking the star located next to the URL in the address bar. Furthermore, the browser benefits from the new HTML5 parsing algorithm, which Opera says helps to unify code discrepancies among browsers and a new network code that establishes secure connections and boosts speed on SSL sites.
The latest version of the browser also comes with Opera's email client that has been redesigned
"If we were a car, this browser would be an extremely potent, yet comfortable, four-by-four. Sleek and stylish, and with no CO2 emissions whatsoever. Your neighbours will envy you," said Jan Standal, VP of desktop products at Opera Software.
According to Opera, "almost 50 percent of the world's population has never tried a new browser. A new browser is a gift that keeps giving all year round".
"It's better to give than to receive, so why not give that special someone a new browser" added Standal.
